Carrie by Stephen King

 Rating- 4.0/5

“I don’t want life to imitate art. I want life to be art”

Stephen King's 'Carrie' was first published in 1974 and for a writer's debut, it was remarkable. The story is set in Maine and revolves around friendless misfit high school girl, Carrie White who starts to discover her hidden telekinetic powers.

She is bullied at school and abused at home by her fanatically religious mother. King's style of writing makes you sympathise the protagonist and hope for a revenge from her side, throughout the novel. While I found it very interesting, at times it could be very dark and hard to read as involves a lot of bloodshed and violence.

As a fan of King, I would surely recommend you to give it a read. You will thank Tabitha King, Mr. King's wife, who fished out the pages of this novel when he threw it away in the trash, considering it to be "world's all time loser". We owe big time to Mrs. King.
